Valerie is part of the Momentum Therapy team which includes myofascial, relaxation and Swedish massage, Ionethermie Therapy and, of course, acupuncture. In a comfortable and peaceful environment Valerie provides personal one-on-one health care.
About Valerie:
Valerie graduated from Emperor's College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, CA in 1993. She did her undergraduate work at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. She has been practicing Oriental Medicine in Austin since 1999 and joined Momentum Therapies in 2006. She is the mother of Eli Rocha, a precocious 9-year-old boy and, not quite so importantly, the "mom" of two dogs (Zoe and Lucy) as well as AlleyCat. She enjoys reading and her idea of heaven is her family nestled in while she reads a good book with a fire going. Being diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 1980 at the age of 20, Valerie is especially sympathetic and versed in dealing with issues of the digestive system. Using acupuncture, herbs and nutraceuticals, Valerie has helped many people regain some control of their digestive health.
Individualized Family Holistic Health Care
Overall, Valerie's practice focuses on helping people achieve a place of strength, physically and mentally, to where they can again trust their body's innate desire to heal itself. Studies have shown that 80% of all diseases find their root in stress. Finding how a given individual holds stress and reacts to stress is a key component to Valerie's work. Acupuncture allows the body's energy to realign itself harmonically for optimal health.
