Your Business’s In-depth Information:

Our dental practice McFarlane Dental has several interests. The comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of dental conditions is our primary focus. We use one of the most advanced sensors in the world. The Instrumentarium OP 200D, with digital panoramic x-ray and the optional upgraded volumetric tomography. We also use the Soredex Digora Optime for digital imaging of our bitewings and periapical images.  What this means for patients, is clear pictures of their teeth and supporting periodontium (bones and gums, and sinuses).  The clarity of the x-rays makes the overall quality of diagnosis much more precise than with traditional x-rays. See a youtube video that shows video footage of the practice and gives an interactive video tour of the different facets of the practice. One of the most attractive features of the practice is the central Austin, TX location.  The practice is conveniently located in the Jefferson Building.  This dental practice is an Austin landmark; it has been a dental practice for 30+ years.  There are very few Austin dental practices with as long of a history of service to the community as ours.  At http://mcfarlanedental.com you can learn more about the factors that promote high quality care.  We have numerous areas of interest on the website including: Invisalign, before and after pictures, veneers, before and after pictures, as well as a listing of common services performed at the practice, such as cleanings, fillings, crowns, implants, wisdom tooth extractions, in-office whitening, root canals. The practice offers numerous accomodations to make your visits with us more comfortable. N2O Nitrous oxide is an excellent way for patients with mild anxiety to reduce stress and unhealthy blood pressure rise during appointments. Likewise, we also offer conscious sedation for patients with moderate to severe anxiety. This technique is most commonly used for procedures such as wisdom tooth extraction, or treating pediatric patients.  Patients should know that education about their dental condition will impact their homecare (e.g. brushing twice a day and flossing at least once per day). McFarlane Dental is committed to dental education of both patients and practitioners. As a member of AGD, I (Russell McFarlane DDS) am pursuing fellowship in the academy of general dentistry. This distinction and honor is held by dentists who complete 500 hours of continuing education, complete an exam that covers all the areas of general dentistry, and have maintained at least three years of active membership in the Academy of General Dentistry. I am also a member of the Capital Area Dental Society, which is our local component of the ADA.

Your Professional Interests:

Currently I am serving as the New Dentist Committee co-chair for the Capital Area Dental Society, along with Dr. Elyse Cronin.
